Auto Mechanic Schools in Oklahoma

A career in auto mechanics can be rewarding and fascinating. The first step in learning this continually growing field is to locate a school in the immediate area that is accredited. While it is not legally required, many shops prefer to hire new automotive technicians who have passed the ASE tests.

A good school prepares new mechanics to take the accreditation tests after graduation. In Oklahoma, there are less than fifty schools that have been accredited with NATEF, or the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation. This foundation lists all schools that have been accredited. After finding which school is closest, examine the courses each school offers. There are many specialization courses available for mechanics and they can dictate a person’s career path.
